Welsh joins Scots

-

JON WELSH has been called up to the Scotland squad for Saturday’s match against New Zealand after Willem Nel broke his arm in the victory over Samoa.

The Newcastle prop won the last of his 11 caps during the 2015 World Cup.

The Scots have also lost second-row Tim Swinson (hand) and back-row Rob Harley (knee) for the rest of the autumn campaign but are hopeful Lions wing Tommy Seymour (toe) could be fit to face the All Blacks at Murrayfield.

New Zealand arrive after playing a France XV tonight in Lyon with a largely second-string team.

They will be without hooker Dane Coles, who will miss at least six months after damaging knee ligaments in the 38-18 Test win over France on Saturday.

SALE have signed South Africa centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg on loan until February after receiving rave reviews from Sharks’ Faf de Klerk and Josh Strauss, his former Super Rugby team-mates.

“He’s a powerful, highly abrasive centre,” said Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond. “He’s only 23 and I’m sure he will be an excellent addition.”
