Fellaini may go for free

SIR BRADLEY WIGGINS was cleared of any wrongdoing yesterday after UK Anti-Doping revealed they did not know what was in the mystery package that has put a cloud over his golden career.

But UKAD chief executive Nicole Sapstead said: “Our investigat­ion was hampered by a lack of accurate medical records being available at British Cycling. This is a serious concern.”

The 14-month investigat­ion into allegation­s of wrongdoing at British Cycling and Team Sky concluded with no charges being brought.

Wiggins said: “This period of time has been a living hell for me and my family. At times it has felt nothing less than a malicious witch-hunt.

“No evidence exists to prove a case against me and in all other circumstan­ces this would be an unqualifie­d finding of innocence.”

The investigat­ion was opened in September 2016 after reports that a mystery package had been delivered to Wiggins’ doctor at the end of the 2011 Criterium du Dauphine race in France.

It was later alleged the package contained a banned corticoste­roid but the doctor involved, Dr Richard Freeman, claimed it was a legal decongesta­nt called fluimucil. Despite interviewi­ng 37 current MAROUANE FELLAINI has rejected a new contract offer and is set to quit Manchester United on a free transfer at the end of the season.

United tabled a new two-year deal for the Belgium midfielder in September, but, despite Jose Mourinho making it clear he remains a vital squad member, Fellaini, below, wants to move on. It means he is free to sign a precontrac­t agreement with an overseas club when the January transfer window opens.

Senior United sources insist he will not be sold then but are resigned to him running down his contract and walking out for nothing next summer.

Several clubs in the Premier League and across Europe will join the chase for Fellaini’s signature, including Arsenal, Inter Milan and
