Girl Guides have lost their way over transgenderism
IT would have been expected that the Guide Association, set up 107 years ago, would be a bastion of traditional values and common sense. But no longer. Not only can boys who identify as female now become Guides but they will also be allowed to share showers, tents, changing rooms and toilets with girls.
On the Girlguiding UK website in a section on residential trips, it says: “The use of gendered facilities, such as toilets can cause anxiety.”
Well it didn’t used to cause anxiety before this modern obsession with choosing your own gender took hold. It cannot be said often enough that there should be sympathy, understanding and tolerance extended to the small number of people who are unhappy about their gender.
Unfortunately children are now positively encouraged to consider whether they want to be male or female, something they might not have given a moment’s thought to in the past.
And do girls who are comfortable being girls get a say in all this? Most girls, when they are very young and when they are adolescent enjoy being exclusively with their own sex.
The Guiding movement once offered positive, active role models to which girls could aspire. It encouraged them to be self-sufficient and independentminded, courageous, resilient and a match for the male sex. In short it made girls feel special.
Why are feminists not vociferous in objecting to the way that women and girls are now being relentlessly expunged from society due to the pressure of a tiny minority?
