‘You’ll see real Bony again’

- James Candy

WILFRIED BONY has vowed to repay Swansea’s faith by rediscovering his goalscoring touch to lift them away from the relegation mire.

The 28-year-old had a goal chalked off in the draw with Bournemouth as his year-long Premier League scoring drought continued.

But Bony believes he will soon show the form that earned him a £30million move to Manchester City before rejoining Swansea in August. “It is Swansea who give me everything that I am now,” said Bony. “So I just need to come back and do my best for them to see the Bony they bought for the first time.

“It has, of course, been a stop-start season since coming back because I didn’t play for a long time.

“My last proper game was back in January in the African Nations Cup, so when I came here it had been almost six months since I played. I am motivated

and I am fit. I just need the games to get back.”

And he is confident Paul Clement’s team, currently second from bottom, can escape the relegation zone.

“Of course we can get out of this situation,” he said. “There is nothing wrong. At the moment we are not in a good shape but we need to change that and we will fight for that.”

Bony had the ball in the back of the net moments before halftime after Renato Sanches headed across goal to Jordan Ayew. But referee Stuart Attwell adjudged Ayew had shoved Cherries defender Nathan Ake.

Ake, who helped Bournemouth earn a third clean sheet in a row, said: “I got pushed a little bit. I tried to clear the ball but I felt I got pushed. It is one of those that can go either way.”
