Gemma: I want a man and babies
STRICTLY star Gemma Atkinson has revealed that she dreams of getting married and settling down, amid talk of romance with a rival’s leading man.
The “single” former glamour model is said to be smitten with Alexandra Burke’s partner, Spaniard Gorka Marquez, as she continues her search for Mr Right.
In an interview with Women’s Health magazine, she said: “It’s like I go through phases.
“I said to my mum the other day, ‘It’d be nice to have a fella’. Then the day after, I was like, ‘I’m so glad I’m on my own’.
“I’d much rather be on my own and be happy than be in the wrong situation with the wrong person.
“I would love marriage and I would love kids, but not until I’m in a place where I’m ready for them.
“I don’t want to just fit the mould because I’m running out of time. No chance.”
The 33-year-old Manchester-born fitness fanatic, actress and radio presenter is one of the only celebrities to have bucked the trend on Strictly after putting on weight during the show, revealing she had gained a stone since being paired with cake-loving Slovenian Aljaz Skorjanec.
She said: “I had no dance experience when I started. Mondays and Tuesdays are worst as you have an amazing weekend and you start again as a novice, but by Wednesday you start picking up the steps.”
Speaking about her love of calorie-laden treats she said: “I’ve put on nearly a stone. He (Alijaz) doesn’t put on weight but I just look at them and put on weight.” On Saturday night, Strictly viewers will see Gemma attempt a tango to My Sharona by The Knack and a rumba to Beneath Your Beautiful by Labrinth featuring Emeli Sande.
