Louise, then Kevin... Strictly’s love split curse strikes again
THE Strictly Come Dancing curse appears to have struck again after details emerged of the breakdown of two marriages linked to the hit show.
Strictly star Louise Redknapp has ended her 19-year marriage to soccer pundit Jamie after realising the relationship was over.
Now another marriage has been hit by the so-called “curse” of affairs and broken relationships, with professional dancer Kevin Clifton’s wife Karen spotted dating someone else.
Fellow dancer Karen was seen with a new man last weekend and a show source said: “The understanding is that they have sadly decided to split.”
Yesterday details emerged of Jamie’s marriage concerns after he made a “worried” phone call to Karen as his marriage to ex-Eternal singer Louise crumbled.
Kevin, 35, and mum-of-two Louise, 43, became close friends last year and Jamie was understood to be increasingly concerned about the effect of Strictly on his marriage, sparking the call to Karen.
Reports yesterday suggested Karen told Jamie: “Keep your wife away from my husband. She’s ruining our marriage.” A friend of Karen, 35, claimed Jamie, 44, was aware of Louise “texting” Kevin and decided to call Karen without Louise’s knowledge.
He then “asked Karen if she thought their partners were having an affair” according to the friend, which left Karen “upset” and emotions “running high”.
A source close to Louise insisted yesterday that Louise and Kevin are “just good friends”.
Louise’s life has seen a remarkable transformation in the year since Strictly.
She has said the show was the first “selfish” thing she had done since becoming a mother and that it caused her to rethink her life.
Jamie was spotted without his wedding ring last week at Heathrow as he returned from a golfing trip.
He has not spoken publicly about the split but according to friends was upset by rumours that he had held Louise back from her career.
The revelations came as the remaining five couples were gearing up for the show’s semi-finals this weekend.
