Roofe simply having a ball

from Pawel Cibicki, and a late shot after dribbling in from the left.

The former West Brom striker has nine goals now despite being used only as a back-up for Leeds’ star attacking trio Samuel Saiz – who also has nine – Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski. But Roofe has promised to keep finding the net as long as he is selected.

“If I get put up there, then I’ll try to do my best but I keep waiting for my time,” he said. “Every time I get put up there I will try my best to score loads of goals. There is no selfishness towards the guys in the team and no thinking you want anyone injured so you can play.

“I’m mentally strong enough to deal with being out of the team, as long as I’m working hard in training – so as soon as I get my chance I will hopefully take it.”

Leeds are four points outside the top six but Roofe says their plans for the season have not altered since August. “We will keep working hard on the training field and hopefully we can get the wins every game,” he said.

“Whatever is said at the start of the season, nothing has changed.” Pawel Wszolek pulled a goal back for QPR late on but the West London club have taken only one point from their past six matches to leave them in relegation trouble.

Ian Holloway’s side have not tasted victory on the road yet this term with a must-win trip to fellow strugglers Birmingham coming on Saturday.

“Concerned is the wrong word at the moment,” said Holloway. “We need a little bit of luck when we get in that final zone.

“I’m disappointed because we played well in the first half. We played very well, should have gone in front and we talked about how to do that.

“We need to get on with the next game and see where we’re going. We have got to get rid of the away hoodoo, we have Birmingham away next.”
