Sex attack claims women make TV call for probe into ‘pervert’ Trump

- From Daniel Bates in New York

THREE women who have accused Donald Trump of sexually assaulting them yesterday branded him a “pervert” and demanded that he face an official investigation.

The women appeared together to demand an ethics probe so that the US President is “held to the same standard” as movie chief Harvey Weinstein.

Samantha Holvey, Rachel Crooks and Jessica Leeds said that Mr Trump was an “offender” and that he was guilty of “serial misconduct and perversion”.

The women appeared on Megyn Kelly Today on NBC, a popular morning TV show in the US.

Miss Leeds recounted how the President put his hand up her skirt on a plane in the 1980s and called her a **** when he met her three years later.

Scandal

Miss Leeds, 75, said she spoke out last year because “I wanted people to know what kind of person Trump really is – what a pervert he is”.

Miss Holvey, 31, a former Miss USA, told how when she was aged 20 Mr Trump would inspect her body and other contestants before the 2006 Miss USA pageant.

She said that Mr Trump’s inauguration in January was a “very sombre day” for her because she felt like America believed him rather than her.

At a later press conference the women said they hoped that the Weinstein scandal would cause voters to re-evaluate Mr Trump’s conduct.

Miss Crooks, 34, said that when she was 22 Mr Trump tried to kiss her while she was working as a receptionist for a development company with offices in New York’s Trump Tower.

She said that Mr Trump was guilty of “serial misconduct and perversion” and that “the only reason I’m here today is this offender is now the President of our country”.

Miss Crooks added: “That some men think they can use their power, position or notoriety to demean and attack women speaks to their character, not ours’.

She called on Congress to investigate the President. “If they were willing to investigate Senator Franken it’s only fair that they do the same for Trump”, she said, referring to Al Franken, the Democratic Senator who is resigning over sexual misconduct allegations. He was facing an investigation from the Senate Ethics Committee before he announced he was quitting.

Miss Leeds said that Mr Trump had “no moral compass” and Miss Holvey called on the President to resign.

Among the other women who have previously accused Mr Trump of assaulting them have been Jill Harth, a former business partner who claimed that Mr Trump tried to kiss her on the lips and grabbed her genitals in 1993.

Mr Trump’s ex-wife Ivana claimed in divorce documents that he raped her in 1989 but she later claimed she did not mean this “in the criminal sense”.

In a statement to NBC the White House said that the women’s claims were “totally false”.
