Heartbreak over loved-up pair killed in horror crash
TRIBUTES have been paid to a couple who died when a speeding car slammed into their taxi.
Lucy Davis, 43, and boyfriend Lee Jenkins, 42, were in the taxi heading home from a Christmas party when the Audi hit them at 1am on Sunday.
The Birmingham couple and their cabbie, father-of-six Imtiaz Mohammed, 33, died at the scene in the Edgbaston area of the city.
Three men in the Audi died, including a convicted drug dealer. A fourth man is fighting for his life in hospital.
Ms Davis’s sister Alison Worth paid an emotional tribute to the loved-up couple travelling home from a “lovely evening out with friends”.
She wrote: “They were happy. They were great together and had so many plans. You will always be in my heart and thoughts. I miss you so much.”
Sign language interpreter Ms Davis worked for Bournville College helping deaf students with their studies.
Her boyfriend Mr Jenkins is understood to be a scientist at University Hospital Birmingham.
The National Union of British Sign Language Interpreters said it was “shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic death of Lucy”.
On Monday, the family of taxi driver Mr Mohammed said he had rung just before the crash to tell them it was his final fare of the night.
The men who died in the Audi have been named locally as Kasar Jehangir, 25, Tauqeer Hussain, 26, and Mohammed Fahsa, 30. Zakkria Khan, 22, a back seat passenger, remained seriously ill in hospital last night.
Locals say the men from Small Heath, Birmingham, were doing more than double the 40mph speed limit.
One said: “The road is used as a racetrack by younger drivers.”
Jehangir was jailed last November for dangerous driving and possessing drugs with intent to supply.
