Fun-loving and kind... tributes to murdered barmaid

- By John Twomey

HEARTBROKEN friends of a murdered barmaid yesterday paid tribute to the “very kind, fun, lifeloving” young woman.

Iuliana Tudos, 22, was battered and stabbed to death on Christmas Eve as she walked across a London park.

One of her friends out searching for her throughout Christmas discovered her body in a disused hut near a sports pitch in Finsbury Park, north London, on Wednesday.

Superintendent Des Fahy said: “She was found by one her friends who were out tracking through the park. The friends are devastated.”

The pals launched an online appeal for her funeral and raised £5,000 in two hours. Eleni Sakka led tributes after posting a treasured photograph of her with Ms Tudos on Facebook.

She left the message: “Dear best friend, thank you for being amazing.”

Terence Conlon added: “Blessed all the hearts that knew her.”

Ms Tudos, known as Julie, was last seen around 8pm on Christmas Eve in Camden, north London.

She told friends she was catching a bus to her home in Finsbury Park and would see them later that evening.

The barmaid, who was of Russian and Greek origin, died as a result of a stab wound to the abdomen and a head injury, say police.

Her friend Senya Taylor said yesterday: “She was so young and friendly, she could make friends with anyone she met very easily. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have met the love of my life too, for which I’m forever grateful.”

Ms Taylor added: “When I heard she had gone missing, straight away that rang a bell because no one I know is more responsible than she is.

“She couldn’t just disappear. She would always find a way to get in touch or get online or say she’s OK and she always insisted you let her know you got home safely too.”

Neighbour Sebastian Jonathan Iuliana worked at The World’s End pub said: “She was a very nice person, young and gorgeous. I met her twice when she came over for beers when we had barbecues last summer.”

Ms Tudos, who came from Moscow, worked at The World’s End pub in Camden and described herself as a “Camden punk”. She was wearing a black and red hooded top, light jeans and black and white shoes.

Police said she was also wearing glasses and carrying a black and white fabric bag with “Fighting Against Animal Testing” written on it.

Items of Ms Tudos’s property, believed to include her mobile phone, are missing. The park is used by homeless people and police yesterday searched a vagrant’s tent close to the spot where her body was found.

A Yard spokeswoman said the tent had to be examined as it was “in the crime scene area”. No arrests have been made. Police want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the park on Christmas Eve.
