Illness could halt Kane’s bid

- Jon West

HARRY KANE’S bid to become the first Premier League player to score three successive hattricks is in the balance because of illness.

Kane notched trebles against Burnley last Saturday and against Southampton on Boxing Day.

But he has been told to keep away from the Spurs training ground ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Swansea.

No top-flight player has celebrated a hattrick of hat-tricks since Liverpool’s Jack Balmer in 1946 and Kane will fancy his chances against the Premier League’s bottom club.

But he may not even make the trip, especially as Tottenham are in action again on Thursday against West Ham.

Spurs Mauricio said: “I whether manager Pochettino don’t know he will be available.” Kane will end 2017 as the top scorer in Europe, with his 56 goals for club and country over the calendar year passing the totals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

His total of 39 Premier League goals over the same period eclipses a record held by Alan Shearer.

Pochettino would not put a price tag on Kane. “If an offer arrived, we will see – £100million, £300m, £500m. Clubs can do what they want, it is not my business,” he said.

“I think Harry doesn’t have a price, because we want him here. He’s priceless.

“He’s not suddenly become a superstar because of achieving an amazing record.

“Nothing has changed. He was a superstar three years ago, one year ago, six months ago and one week ago. We’ve always treated him like a superstar. “
