Allardyce still talking Turkey

- Harry Talbot

SAM ALLARDYCE has warned a deal to sign Cenk Tosun is not done with Everton facing competition from some of Europe’s top clubs.

The Toffees boss wants to bring in the Besiktas striker in the transfer window, with Everton ready to cough up £25million for the Turkey international.

Besiktas fans appeared to wave goodbye to the 26-year-old after he scored for them in a Turkish Cup tie on Thursday. But Allardyce insists Everton have a fight on their hands to land his top target.

“It’s in the wind,” he said. “There’s an interest obviously because we’re actively looking for a frontman. But the interest from other clubs around Europe is our biggest worry.”

Allardyce is keen to add more goals to his side after sorting out their leaky defence. Everton have conceded just two goals in Allardyce’s six Premier League games in charge, but scored only seven ahead of today’s visit to Bournemouth.

Allardyce, who wants three new signings in January, also added he will need to sell a midfielder before he could make any move for Sevilla star Steven N’Zonzi, who he worked with at Blackburn.

“Yes, I would like him but with the amount of midfield players I have at the moment, I’d have to move some player out to bring in a player like Steven,” added Allardyce, whose effect on Everton is inspiring Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.

The Cherries have slipped into the relegation zone after failing to win any of their last eight league games and Howe said: “Sam has done a great job at Everton in a short space of time and we have to use that as a motivating factor.” TOSUN: Target
