Search for avalanche Briton fails
RESCUERS have failed to find a British snowboarder feared dead in an avalanche after a three-day search.
Terrible weather conditions hampered efforts yesterday to find John Bromell, 39, from Willingham by Stow, Lincs, who was last seen on Sunday in Tignes in the French Alps.
He had been on the slopes with his wife and other family members but set off alone “for one last run”.
A local source said: “The fear is that he was caught up in an avalanche and died.”
In Zermatt, Switzerland, where 13,000 people have been trapped by heavy snow, 100 holidaymakers an hour were flown out yesterday. Others were told to stay indoors to await rescue.
