BBC shows still most popular

THE BBC shrugged off the loss of The Great British Bake Off in 2017 to again broadcast the most-watched TV show of the year.

Wildlife series Blue Planet II drew in 14 million viewers, with dramatic footage that included walruses fighting to find a home, along with surfing dolphins and a sex-changing fish.

But the ratings were nearly two million down on the most-watched programme of 2016, when 15.9 million saw Candice Brown win the Bake Off final.

But it was enough for the BBC to hold on to its title of the biggest TV audience of the year.

The corporation took second place as well with 13 million watching the Strictly Come Dancing final.
