Trump holds all the right cards to be a peacemaker

-

PRESIDENT Donald Trump has really been going through the wringer lately.

People have been lining up to take a pop, especially since the release of the book Fire And Fury: Inside The Trump White House. All speculation and hearsay.

But whatever you say or think about Trump, love him or hate him, you must never underestimate The Donald (“What if the joke’s on Trump’s foes?”, January 10).

Weeks ago, Kim Jong-un’s sabre-rattling session of nuclear threats, the world was fearing a Third World War, but Trump turned the sanction-screw, forced China to understand the threat on its doorstep and we now have small and tiny baby steps, with Olympic dialogue being opened between Korea, North and South.

However big, however small, the moves towards some kind of meaningful talks around bigger tables, must be welcomed. If talks are to come further down the line, the world may owe a huge debt of thanks to Donald Trump. Ashley Smith, March, Cambs
