Money goes up in smoke because of overseas aid
IT really is time that the infamous Department for International Development is abolished along with its scandalously spendthrift waste of taxpayers’ money (“84% say give aid cash to the NHS”, January 9).
I have been enraged to hear that I can no longer have essential medication ordered for me by a pharmacist, because the NHS can no longer afford it.
How gratifying that my taxes can be used for anti-smoking classes in Cambodia and contraception supplies for African countries, as well as nicotine patches in this country. Ian Crouch, Spalding, Lincs
