Money goes up in smoke because of overseas aid

-

IT really is time that the infamous Department for International Development is abolished along with its scandalously spendthrift waste of taxpayers’ money (“84% say give aid cash to the NHS”, January 9).

I have been enraged to hear that I can no longer have essential medication ordered for me by a pharmacist, because the NHS can no longer afford it.

How gratifying that my taxes can be used for anti-smoking classes in Cambodia and contraception supplies for African countries, as well as nicotine patches in this country. Ian Crouch, Spalding, Lincs
