Documentary: A Vicar’s Life, 8.30pm, BBC2
Fans of An Island Parish and similar shows will love this new series. The documentary, broadcast over the next six weeks, follows the day-to-day lives of three vicars – Matthew Stafford, Ruth Hulse and Nicholas Lowton (all left, with Father Matthew Cashmore). Hulse is based in the cathedral city of Hereford, Lowton serves the scattered hill farming communities of the Black Mountains in south-east Wales while Stafford’s based in a small Shropshire town. In the first programme, Matthew persuades a local hairdresser to get married in church, Ruth cares for a terminally ill churchwarden and Nicholas has to deal with the consequences of a break-in and theft of priceless church records.
