Turmeric’s a tonic for healthy joints

- By George Nichols

YOU’VE always been active and you always want to be, yet time is beginning to tell. Your joints and muscles are even more important as you become older, so when you recognise that all isn’t quite as it should be, you need to act.

Anne Evans, 57, is not only a fitness fanatic but also a keen dressage rider, so when she started to notice her movements slowing down she was determined to find a solution.

She began to search for something to offer her joints support without going down the medicinal route and came up with turmeric.

“I consider myself fit and active, yet age does eventually creep up and you notice these little niggles on a more frequent basis,” says Anne, of Cirencester, Gloucestershire, who has been riding for 20 years and also enjoys her spare time in the garden.

“Those niggles can have an impact on the fun you have and I was determined that wasn’t going to happen to me.”

Anne’s search led her to Turmeric+, developed by Cambridge-based diet supplement experts FutureYou. Anne says: “After much research with the help of my husband, a biochemist, I decided that turmeric was something I should try.

“There are numerous studies that demonstrate its benefits, so I was simply left deciding on the best way to incorporate it into my diet.”

Turmeric is the bright yellow spice that adds colour to many curries and despite being seemingly unassuming, it is rated as one of nature’s superfoods.

Long-used in Indian medicine, it is increasingly valued by scientists, nutritionists and doctors for improving joint health. Research shows that it needs to be consumed daily and in decent amounts, beyond even the most avid curry fan, to reap the benefits. The

beneficial component of turmeric is curcumin, yet that only accounts for three per cent of standard turmeric powder.

What convinced Anne to try Turmeric+ was the fact that it contains only the curcumin from turmeric and that it is supported by more clinical studies than any other turmeric supplement.

“It was the study at the Olympic research centre in Barcelona that really caught my eye,” says Anne.

“Knowing it was used by international footballers and elite athletes made me think it must be able to do something for me.”

The curcumin in Turmeric+ is combined with soy lecithin, a combination that makes it easy for the curcumin to be absorbed by the body. Studies have shown that the formulation is 30 times more absorbable than standard turmeric.

Anne has been taking Turmeric+ for almost a year and it is proving to be a winner. Anne is riding, going to the gym, taking part in Pilates and much more – not to mention keeping up with day-to-day activities with far more ease than she used to.

“When you discover something this good you need to share the benefits – I love the product and have told many of my friends about it. This fits my mantra of being fit for your life.”
