BORN NOVEMBER 14, 1931 - DIED JANUARY 9, 2018, AGED 86

TERENCE Marsh, the Oscarwinni­ng production designer and art director whose work on Doctor Zhivago and the musical Oliver! saw him win the gold statuette in 1965 and 1968 respective­ly, died after a long battle with cancer.

During his 50-year career he also received Academy Award nomination­s for Scrooge and Mary, Queen Of Scots, as well as three Bafta nomination­s.

Born in London, he began as a draughtsma­n at Pinewood Studios, working on the 1957 classic The Prince And The Showgirl starring Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe.

Marsh was assistant art director on Lawrence Of Arabia and his skills featured in many films including A Bridge Too Far, The Hunt For Red October and The Green Mile.
