Trump is buzzing
JUDD TRUMP swatted away Shaun Murphy at the Masters yesterday after seeing his rival attacked by wasps.
Trump, bidding for a first title at Alexandra Palace, set up a semi-final against Kyren Wilson with a 6-4 win.
Murphy hit back from 4-2 down to level at 4-4 but that stung Trump into action and he wrapped up the win with brilliant breaks of 111 and 113.
There was a four-minute hold-up in frame four after two wasps made a beeline for Murphy. Referee Jan Verhaas managed to kill one of the insects but the other escaped and remained at large as Murphy brandished first a cue and then a matador-style red towel.
Trump, new favourite after the exits of Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Selby, said: “It really took a good break from Shaun to get the match going after some distractions, then I had to respond, and to get to a semi-final with two centuries at the Masters is pleasing.” HULL FC star Albert Kelly may quit the club and return to Australia at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old playmaker is entering his fourth season in Super League and helped Lee Radford’s side to Challenge Cup glory last year.
But he says he has “unfinished business” in the NRL and added: “I know I’m going to have to make a tough decision about whether I stay or go home. Four years is a long time. My family are asking when I’m coming home all the time.”
