Blues united in silence
BIRMINGHAM have silenced talk of Manchester United as they go in search of glory tonight.
Championship Blues host Premier League Huddersfield with the winners due to face United at home in round five.
But manager Steve Cotterill, right, says Jose Mourinho’s men have not been mentioned in the build-up.
“Everybody knows about that but we won’t be talking about it,” said Cotterill. “We give full respect to Huddersfield. They will have our 100 per cent undivided attention first.
“The players are professional and they know anything they say stupidly about Man United is going to come back and haunt us with Huddersfield.
“Anybody would like to play United in the cup unless you’re a Premier League team and you’re going to play them twice anyway. But we have a big game ahead of us first and it’s Huddersfield.” Terriers manager David Wagner insists his players have what it takes to deliver him two presents – an FA Cup home tie against United and Premier League survival. The team desperately need some momentum after suffering five successive league defeats. They are in the relegation zone for the first time this season after losing 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday. Wagner admitted that Premier League survival is the priority, but sees no reason why he has to choose between that and cup success. He said: “We like to have both – and we are working for both.”
