That’s how to do it, Neymar

- Harry Talbot

CRISTIANO Ronaldo made history last night – and showed Neymar he still has a way to go if he is to dethrone him as the world’s best player.

Ronaldo became the first player to score 100 Champions League goals for the same club when he fired in Real Madrid’s equaliser from the penalty spot before adding his 101st late on as the defending champions came from behind to take control of this tie.

The penalty itself was far from routine, as replays showed the ball jumped off the spot when Ronaldo placed his standing foot, allowing him to almost volley the ball home.

Ronaldo’s magic touch cancelled out Adrien Rabiot’s 33rd-minute opener and allowed the hosts to go into the break level.

PSG star Neymar, who

has been linked with a move to Madrid as a replacement for Ronaldo in 2019, played his a part in the opener with a backheel into Rabiot’s path.

But if he was in any doubt as to the huge hole he may have to fill he was given an emphatic reminder with seven minutes to go when Marco Asensio’s cross was parried by keeper Alphonse Areola and Ronaldo turned it home with his knee.

The home fans had barely stopped celebrating when Marcelo completed the comeback with a volley from inside the box to ease the pressure on under-fire Real boss Zindedine Zidane.
