Plea to trace couple in wave of kindness for ‘lady in window’

- By Jan Disley

THE family of an ailing widow want to trace a mystery couple who made her day with a heart-warming act of kindness.

Great-grandmother Margaret Goodwin, 83, who has dementia and spends her days gazing at the street outside the family home, woke on Valentine’s Day to find a bouquet and a touching letter to “the lady in the window” from “the walkers who wave”.

Her granddaughter Kate Taylor, 37, who cares for Margaret at their house in Woolton Village, Liverpool, said the family came downstairs to find the letter box jammed open with a bunch of daffodils and a note.

The letter from “Anne and Trevor (red-haired lady, chap with beard and glasses)”, said: “Wishing our lady in the window a very happy Valentine’s Day! We hope you like the daffodils.”

Kate said: “In a world full of tragedy and bad news it warms my heart.

“My gran has dementia, she sits and watches the world go by through the front window. Lots of schoolchildren and locals wave as they go past.

“This is by far the sweetest, most thoughtful gesture. It put a huge smile on my face and the note will be kept to show gran when she’s having a bad day.

“We don’t know these people, they don’t know her, they’ve never spoken to her, but they decided they would think about her and do something for her.

“If anyone knows Anne and Trevor, please give them my thanks.”
