Mick swears he can win the fans around
MICK McCARTHY is sure he can mend his fractured relationship with Ipswich fans by winning games.
They had made their feelings known about his style of pragmatic, defence-minded football in less than flattering terms and booed the replacement of Dominic Iorfa with like-for-like wing-back Jordan Spence.
McCarthy responded by gesturing to Town fans and swore in their direction as they celebrated Luke Chambers’ late finish, before Timm Klose snatched a Norwich equaliser four minutes into time added on. Despite pictures to the

contrary, McCarthy said he was not directing his feelings towards the 2,000 travelling fans but merely celebrating.
McCarthy said: “That was just a reaction to the game. It was just me celebrating the goal. It is just emotions at the game.
“I’m getting it from both sets of fans by the way. It’s great when the away fans cheer your name! Do you think that is in support of me?”
But McCarthy is confident he can win them around, starting at home against Cardiff. “Winning games overcomes it, so we’ll see what Wednesday brings shall we?” he added.
Ipswich started more adventurously but Norwich’s James Maddison took hold of the game in the second, half and twice had free-kicks well saved by Town keeper Bartosz Bialkowski.
Norwich boss Daniel Farke hailed his side’s late finish and said: “We have the best scoring record in the last 30 minutes of all the teams in the Championship and it’s a sign of our physical condition but also our mentality and togetherness.”
