Sick and tired of this circus

-

WE HAVE put up with a lot of rubbish over the years but Saturday afternoon was undoubtedly a dark day to be a West Ham fan.

Yet, while I can perfectly understand, and even agree with a lot of the anger directed towards David Gold, David Sullivan and Karren Brady, the way certain people went about expressing their frustrations was nothing short of pathetic, and to be fair the majority of fans in the stadium let the pitch invaders know just that.

But let’s look at where these frustrations stem from, because I, like almost every single West Ham fan I speak to, am sick and tired of the circus we’ve become since they took over in 2010, with Sullivan proudly stating at the time: “We have a seven-year plan to get them into the Champions League and turn them into a big club and over the seven-year period we do plan to spend a lot of money.”

Well, this clearly hasn’t happened.

I can recall the same David Sullivan standing on the pitch before the last ever game at Upton Park talking about the need to leave to go to another level. And now here we are, without a home and while his next level comments could prove true, I can’t imagine many thought he was referring to the Championship at the time.

If they were not going to put the money in, then why move to an athletics stadium not fit for football? Fans would have been happier at Upton Park.
