Sky guy Wells for Castleford
SKY SPORTS pundit Jon Wells has been appointed director of rugby at Castleford Tigers.
The former winger made more than 250 Super League appearances for Castleford, Wakefield and London Broncos before working for the broadcaster. Despite his new role at Castleford, which will see him head up the rugby department and work closely with head coach Daryl Powell, Wells will continue as a Sky pundit.
Wells said: “This is an improving, progressive club with the potential now to establish itself as one of the top clubs in Super League for years to come. “My job is to help provide the environment in which they can do just that.” Castleford chief executive Steve Gill confirmed he is leaving the role after five years, although he will remain as a club director. Meanwhile, Huddersfield Giants scrum-half Danny Brough, 35, has signed a one-year contract extension to stay with the club until the end of next season.
