GERAINT THOMAS endured more bad luck at the Tirreno-Adriatico but is still in with a chance of winning the race today.
The Team Sky rider suffered a mechanical problem in the fourth stage on Saturday, losing the leader’s jersey and dropping to fourth. And in yesterday’s sixth stage, he had a puncture with just 11km to go. But Chris Froome helped ensure he did not lose any further time.
Thomas goes into today’s finale, a 10km individual time trial, just 29 seconds behind leader and team-mate Michal Kwiatkowski.
