EFL to probe Derby call-off
THE EFL will investigate the postponement of the Championship match between Derby and Cardiff on Sunday.
Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock described the decision to cancel the match as “scandalous” and a “disgrace”, and alluded to the Rams’ recent injury crisis.
Derby said the clash had been called off due to adverse weather leaving Pride Park and surrounding areas unsafe for “supporters, staff and officials.”
The EFL said on Sunday the decision was made “first thing this morning following discussions between Derby County, Derbyshire Police and the local Safety Advisory Group.” But Derbyshire police have said they were not involved. On Twitter yesterday the force said: “The club made this decision independently.”
An EFL spokesman said yesterday: “Having asked both clubs for their observations on Sunday, we will not be making any further comment until the full responses are received.”
