No wonder Elle’s smiling... The Body at 53
ELLE Macpherson was dubbed “The Body” four decades ago... and she is still making a splash.
The 53-year-old Australian looked barely a day older than her early modelling days when she was spotted jogging along a beach in Sydney this week.
Her ageless figure was on display in a black cut-out swimsuit as she ran along the sand then into the waves where she took a dip to cool down.
The 6ft mother of two, who lives in Miami, was in her home country on holiday ahead of her 54th birthday next Thursday.
Her modelling career kicked off in 1982 after she was discovered by talent scouts while skiing in Aspen, Colorado.
Since then she has graced a host of magazine covers and won accolades for her beauty.
Elle has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated a record five times and was named in People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People issue back in 1995. The fitness fanatic has always made sure she keeps her body toned and healthy – and she still boasts a trim 36-25-35 figure.
In a recent interview she revealed how she had started listening to what her “body wanted” instead of doing exercise she “thought it needed”, and is now opting for more “nurturing ones” like yoga.
Elle said she woke up at 5am and started her daily routine with hot water and lemon. She also treats herself to a fortifying tea with valerian root, hops and skullcap. She added: “I set my intentions for the day and check into my feelings, my body and mind. As I do this, I practise mindful breathing and meditate.”
She has also adapted her diet to more “wholefood and plantbased” meals. She said: “In many ways, I’m in better shape now for it.”
Her ageless figure is also down to early nights and a good night’s sleep.
