Caine’s still able to party

-

HE RECENTLY revealed his film star days are coming to an end but one thing Sir Michael Caine has no plans to retire from is a good party!

Day & Night can exclusively reveal that the Alfie legend, who turned 85 on March 14, was determined not to miss out on pal Sir Andrew Lloyd

Webber’s 70th birthday bash at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London despite doctor’s orders to stay home. The star, whose stunning wife

Shakira, 71, was protectively by his side for most of the night, missed out on a special London screening of the 1960s documentary My Generation last week, which he’d narrated, after breaking his ankle.

But according to our insiders the actor, despite using a walking frame because of the injury, was on good form at Sir Andrew’s retro-themed do, bopping his head to the music and at one point had a mini singalong with Sir Elton John.

He was joined by stars including Craig Revel Horwood, Spice Girl Mel C, Sir Bob Geldof and Rowan Atkinson and delighted guests with anecdotes and cheeky jokes.

“It was Andrew’s night but it’s fair to say Michael was the centre of the party,” one guest told Day & Night. “He had a small group in stitches whenever he heard a song he liked and cursed about his frame stopping him from blowing the roof off with his dance moves.”

The multi-award winner’s jocularity is no surprise. He suggested recently that he wanted to spend the rest of his days off a film set and having fun.

Despite a stellar career that spans 60 years, appearing in well over 100 films with offers of more meaty roles still coming in, he said: “You don’t retire from movies, movies retire you. They haven’t retired me yet. It’s coming. I’m 85 and getting up at 6.30am and learning six pages of dialogue... well, it’s not my idea of paradise.”
