Return to rehab as Farrell plays it safe

-

COLIN FARRELL has checked in to a top rehabilitation clinic to seek help in his battle with sobriety.

The 41-year-old actor checked into the Meadows of Wickenburg centre, Arizona, where stars such as Tiger Woods, Selena Gomez, Elle Macpherson and most recently Kevin Spacey have sought treatment and help.

The Irishman has famously battled addiction with drugs and alcohol for years and last checked in to rehab in 2005. The In Bruges star has claimed to have been sober ever since but last week is said to have become so overwhelmed with work he decided to get help as a preventative measure.

“This was his decision. He knows the danger signs so checked in to be safe,” a source tells Day & Night. “He’s a recovering alcoholic and sees no shame in getting support if he feels a bit out of control. His experience with rehab has been positive.”

Another source tells America’s E! News: “He did it to reset his life. He’s not using right now.”

The Meadows clinic offers guests horse riding, yoga, tai chi, acupuncture and meditation, while boasting a fitness centre and several relaxation areas.

The father-of-two, who celebrated 10 years of sobriety last year, previously said about his issues with booze: “I don’t see alcoholism as an affliction or rehab as a sob story. I’m not imprisoned by it… When I came out of rehab [the first time] that was the best sleep my mother had in 15 years.”
