PICKS OF THE DAY

-

Crime: The Investigator: A British Crime Story, 9pm, ITV

Mark Williams-Thomas is back for three programmes and he has a series of unsolved murder and missing women cases that he wants to link to two men currently serving time for murder. The investigation by the journalist and former detective (left) begins with 18-year-old Louise Kay, who disappeared from Eastbourne, East Sussex, in June 1988. Her family are desperate for answers and the latest inquiry soon leads to the prime suspect in her possible murder – convicted killer Peter Tobin, who was living nearby at the time. The Scot is currently incarcerated for the murders of Angelika Kluk, Vicky Hamilton and Dinah McNicol.

Property: Bad Tenants, Rogue Landlords, 8pm, Channel 5

Landlords these days have a myriad new things that make their lives difficult. An example of that comes in this new series as some homeowners fall foul of two young YouTube stars who are using their rental property as a film set. To make matters worse, the tenants have stopped paying their rent but are refusing to leave. In Chelmsford, lawyer Chris (left) receives a shock when he tries to evict a group of squatters.

Soap: EastEnders, 7.30pm, BBC1

On the surface, Judith appears to be deliberately disagreeing with Ted over the funeral arrangements so Bernadette, worried her friend is being pressed into doing something she does not want to do, tries to make his daughter see sense. Kat (Jessie Wallace, above right) resolves to fix the situation with the neighbours, realising how hard they have made things for Stacey, while Hunter and Louise face relationship problems.

Comedy: Not Going Out, 9pm, BBC1

You sit down with the intention of just watching one episode and the next thing you know six hours have passed. Most of us have been in the position Lucy and Lee are in tonight. The pair (Sally Bretton and Lee Mack, both above) become addicted to a TV boxset and cancel dinner with Toby and Anna as a result. But when they lie about the reason, it only succeeds in opening up a huge can of worms.

Travel: The Cruise: Sailing The Caribbean, 8.30pm, ITV

Everyone loves a cruise and this programmes looks at life on board the Royal Princess during a busy season island-hopping around the Caribbean. Things get off to a bad start for Captain Bob Oliver (right) when the winches on level three stop working, meaning the ship will be unable to dock at the next port. Then, onboard medic Dr Laverne is put to the test when a passenger falls ill and needs transferring to a hospital.
