A TEACHER and her husband have been jailed after launching a brutal revenge attack on a fellow holidaymaker they believed had pinched her bottom during a night out.

Alison Enoch, 45, and her burly construction worker husband Craig, 46, broke into Lee Webster’s caravan in the middle of the night.

They grabbed their startled victim by the throat and got him to the ground where they punched, kicked and stamped on him, Judge Andrew Stubbs QC told York Crown Court.

“When one of you stopped, the other started,” he told the couple as they stood side by side in the dock.

The attack came after they had brooded for a fortnight over an incident in a pub in Selby, North Yorkshire, when Mr Webster had allegedly grabbed Mrs Enoch’s bottom during a birthday celebration pub crawl with other visitors to the holiday park.

The assault was so violent it opened stitches from a previous operation on the victim’s ears. The couple had known about the operation, the judge said. It is understood Mrs Enoch previously worked at a primary school close to her home in Rothwell, Leeds, and was a member of the Parent Teacher Association.

In a statement to the court, Mr Webster said he had been a keen caravanner but the attack had “destroyed all the good times and memories. I feel uncomfortable staying at the park”.

The court was told the couple had subsequently tried to stop him going to the police by threatening him with further violence.

The victim said he had lost two weeks’ work because of his injuries and had since found it hard to concentrate. The judge added: “There are some crimes which are so serious that it is inappropriate to suspend a sentence. A sustained attack in someone’s home at night involving stamping and kicking is in my mind one of those crimes.”

He jailed both husband and wife for 20 months for the attack at Scalm Park caravan site near Selby in February last year.

The Enochs had denied causing actual bodily harm but were convicted by a jury following a trial last month.

Andrew Semple, representing Mrs Enoch, said she had lost her job over the incident.
