‘It’s been a really good day today – it’s been perfect’

When asked how yesterday’s zip wire ride in Grizedale, Cumbria, compared to his previous adventures, he replied: “It’s different but it’s better. It’s been a really good day today. It’s been perfect.”

Jack has his own unusual views on keeping fit and young at heart.

He said he does not go in for healthy eating and exercise and instead takes pleasure with a stiff tipple every morning and evening.

His advice to others was: “Work hard, always smile, get plenty of fresh air and last but not least, have a tot of Grouse whisky in your tea in the morning and a tot before bed.”

His daughter Jayne has explained previously that her father is very much young at heart despite now being 106, and is an avid internet user who is active on social media.

Describing his decision to have an inking she said: “Dad wanted to do something to raise money for charity again and I suggested he have a tattoo which he agreed to. We all think it’s great. He’s absolutely amazing and everyone loves him.”

On his JustGiving page, Jack said last night: “It has become somewhat of a tradition that on my birthday I use my new age to help raise money for worthy charities.

“Please follow my journey and help me achieve my target for this great cause.”

Donations have already exceeded Jack’s initial £500 Stroke Associatio­n target.
