Conditions will be ideal for Baywing

- The Scout

WITH conditions requiring limitless stamina and courage BAYWING (3.00) fits the bill for today’s Liz Adam Chase at Kelso.

The nine-year-old is up 9lb for his victory in the Eider Chase at Newcastle in February but he came home with something in hand on that occasion.

Also, he is weighted to beat Yala Enki, the winner of last year’s race, when he finished fourth.

Yala Enki will obviously be a tough nut to crack but it is worth pointing out that he had a hard race at last month’s Cheltenham Festival.

Despite his terrible recent figures, unseated, refused and fell, Wild West Wind will be the danger if he returns to the form that enabled him to beat Alfie Spinner at Chepstow in December.

TAXMEIFYOUCAN (2.25, nap) can take the Totescoop6 Hurdle. He would have won his three hurdle races had he not unseated his rider when looking set for victory at Hexham in August

His latest success, over Sam’s Gunner at this course in February, reads well as the runner-up has since won a competitive 17-runner hurdle at Sandown.

SMART CALL (3.15) can take the feature event on the Flat at Kempton.

The Michael Stoute-trained mare failed to win last season but she was far from disgraced when running against the best in the world.

She finished the season on a high when beaten under seven lengths by Highland Reel in the Group One Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin in December.

Richard Hannon’s excellent start to the new season can continue with TOMILY (2.05).

She can make it treble in the Betfred Mobil Handicap at the expense of the consistent Jumira Bridge who runs for new connections today.
