Road ignored as 200 craters in a lay-by are fixed

-

A COUNCIL has come under fire for ignoring dozens of potholes in a busy dual carriageway while repairing nearly 200 craters in one of its lay-bys.

Baffled drivers reported the “bizarre” anomaly after suffering years of car damage on the A15 in Lincolnshire.

Local councillors later admitted their contractors may not have completed highways repair jobs in the order they were intended.

One lorry driver yesterday said: “I was totally amazed. I thought ‘no way’.

“With the state of the roads, and they are concentrating on lay-bys. It’s unbelievable. People will be up in arms about it. It seems so bizarre.

“I am guessing it was probably planned work – in the pipeline for six months, or a year. But they should still prioritise.”

Lincolnshire County Council said that after the glitch was pointed out to officials, the contractors agreed to fill in all potholes,

Councillor Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “Each week, our repair jobs for a particular area are prioritised and sent to the contractor for completion.

“However, in this instance, the onsite gang didn’t complete the jobs in the suggested order.

“We will be raising this with the contractor as we are extremely disappointed with this poor performance.”
