Laura reveals sex assaults

STRICTLY’S Laura Whitmore claims she has been repeatedly sexually assaulted.

The presenter says last year she was left traumatised after a man she didn’t know groped her on a night out and then mocked her afterwards.

“I’ve wanted to [say] this for a while but I’ve been scared,” states the 32-year-old. “Last year I was in a club with my friends and I could feel a hand on the back of my leg. The hand went under my skirt, between my legs, and firmly touched me. As I turned, I saw it was a guy who I did not know. He was laughing.”

The man was swiftly dealt with by security and Laura says the incident remains etched in her mind. “That single moment comes back to me every time and I feel violated in a similar way,” she admits. “No one has the right to do that to anyone. My body. My property. This I know – but sadly, I’ve experienced similar things repeatedly.”

Laura has also spoken out about having cried every day during her stint on BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.

“I was placed with a dance partner I was extremely uncomfortable with,” says Laura, who can only be referring to dance pro Giovanni Pernice. “I cried every day. And I really was broken, both mentally and physically. By the end… I was struggling.”

While the Survival Of The Fittest presenter didn’t elaborate, it is believed she was referring to her and the 27-year-old’s alleged falling out over rumours she had caused the break-up of his relationship with Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote.
