Will Ant and Dec retain their TV glory?

YES

HE might have been issued with the largest ever fine for drink-driving and given a 20-month ban – but the country’s mostloved double act since Morecambe and Wise can still survive this.

Some of us like a drink and a fair few of us have done a few silly things we shouldn’t have. This is what I see as being Ant’s saving grace.

Despite being two times over the legal limit, he voluntarily went straight into rehab and will no doubt have returned there following the court case.

While sidekick Dec has soldiered on solo with presenting duties in the interim the nation have only ever known and loved them as a twosome.

Upon leaving court Ant said: “I’ve let myself down, I let a lot of people down. And for that I am truly sorry.”

Providing he is true to his word, I see no reason his star won’t rise again.

ANT and Dec together will always have pulling power and still have the full support from the public.

However, the longer Ant is away, the more used to seeing Dec present alone or with other people the public will be. I also think Dec has the full support of the public and we want him to succeed solo.

He doesn’t deserve to fall from grace. But there are lots of different factors built into it regarding contract and endorsement terms, whether Ant and Dec will want to get back together or continue solo journeys, and what the public will want, which really is the main factor.

The public are forgiving but they are not patient and if Dec continues to do a good job solo, this is what will cause demand and Ant may find it hard to catch back up again.

But it really is to be seen and the response they get when it comes to that bridge.
