Sacked FBI chief says ‘morally unfit’ Trump is vulnerable to blackmail

- By Cyril Dixon

FORMER FBI director James Comey has claimed Donald Trump is “morally unfit” to be President and could be open to blackmail by the Russians.

Mr Comey painted a scathing picture of the US leader in an interview with ABC television on Sunday.

He accused Mr Trump of lying “constantly” and lashed out at his sexist attitude to women.

He also believed it “possible” that Kremlin agents had material which would make Mr Trump susceptible to blackmail.

Last year, a secret dossier alleged the President was recorded watching prostitutes performing sex acts in a Moscow hotel room. “There’s a non-zero possibility that the Russians have some sway over him that is rooted in his personal experience,” Mr Comey said.

“I don’t know whether that’s the business about the activity in a Moscow hotel room or finances or something else.”

Mr Comey, who has just published A Higher Loyalty, his memoir about working under the Trump administration, said his ex-boss could do “tremendous damage” to America.

He said the President “talks about and treats women like they’re pieces of meat” and “lies constantly about matters big and small.” He added: “I don’t think he’s medically unfit to be President.

“I think he’s morally unfit to be President.”

Mr Trump hit back ahead of the ABC interview, branding his accuser “Slippery James Comey” in a series of tweets.

He denounced him as “the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!” and added: “I never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty. I hardly even knew this guy.”

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said about Mr Comey: “This is somebody who’s giving a revisionist version of history.”
