“Pep is a big part of that and hopefully these can be his first trophies of many here at City.”

Under the terms of his new contract, De Bruyne, City’s player of the season, is set to land around £500,000 for winning the title, as well as £800,000 for playing more than 60 per cent of their league games and £100,000 for winning the Carabao Cup.

Several of his teammates are on similarly lucrative bonus packages and the entire squad, it is understood, will share a £10m jackpot.

PEP GUARDIOLA has given champions Manchester City a further boost by agreeing to extend his contract by another year, meaning he will be at the Etihad at least until the summer of 2020. And City’s double-winning squad will share a £10million bonus jackpot for adding the club’s third Premier League title to the Carabao Cup.
