Pogba plays down talk of rift with Jose

- Richard Tanner

PAUL POGBA insists he has “no problem” with manager Jose Mourinho and denied suggestions that he is looking to quit Manchester United in the summer.

The £89million France midfielder was left on the bench by Mourinho on several occasions earlier this season, sparking speculation of a rift between them and that he could be sold.

That was fuelled by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealing he had been offered Pogba by the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, in January, claims that Mourinho described as “lies”.

But Pogba has rediscovered his best form in recent games, helping United beat Tottenham to reach the FA Cup final, and he told French TV station Canal Plus everything is fine between them.

“I don’t have a problem with him and I don’t think he has a problem with me,” said Pogba. “He’s the coach and he has to make choices. I am a player and I accept them. I have to answer on the pitch.

“Mourinho has made me captain [on occasions] and he has given me the keys, the responsibilities of playing for Manchester United.”

Asked if Mourinho has explained why he has left him out on occasions, he replied: “No. It all depends on the coach – there are some who like to talk to the players. Mourinho, when he makes a choice, you have to accept it.”

Pogba has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid but added: “If I listened to everyone, I would be everywhere.

“Right now, I am at Manchester United and I am honestly only thinking about the present.

“Transfers are not in my head. We are in the FA Cup final and the World Cup is around the corner.”
