Gwyneth can’t get mum dating
GWYNETH PALTROW reckons it is high time her septuagenarian mum Blythe Danner got back on the dating scene – and has told her to join the app Tinder to do just that. It has been 16 years since her husband and Gwynnie’s father Bruce Paltrow died of a heart attack.
And featuring on her offspring’s Goop podcast, Blythe admits that she has “become a bit of a hermit” because she simply prefers her own company.
“I’ve got to get you on JDate, I’ve got to get you on Tinder, mum!” suggests her wannabe matchmaking daughter. But the 75-year-old makes it clear she isn’t the slightest bit interested in joining the Jewish dating site or the popular online app.
However, the 45-year-old actress and lifestyle guru doesn’t give up easily and later puts her mum on the spot again asking her outright: “Do you want a boyfriend?” Rejecting her daughter’s second effort, Blythe says she’s much happier without the emotional turmoil a failed romance can bring. “I have no interest. Really I don’t,” insists the Will & Grace actress who married Gwyneth’s father, director and producer Bruce, in 1969, with the couple also having son Jake, 42, together. She then adds: “If I got my heart broken I’d probably jump off the railing. And I don’t want to be bored, so it’s one or the other.’’ Still undeterred the Iron Man star – who has two children with ex Chris Martin and is soon to marry producer Brad Falchuk – had one last cheeky suggestion: “I can also go to Goop. com and get you a vibrator?” An offer Blythe, thankfully, refuses.
