‘Murdering scumbag’... ordeal of hero OAP as burglar buried
HERO Richard Osborn-Brooks was subjected to online intimidation from the family of stabbed burglar Henry Vincent within hours of him being buried.
The career criminal, 37, died when he was stabbed by Mr Osborn-Brooks, 78, during a botched break-in at the pensioner’s home in Hither Green, south-east London, on April 4.
Mourners at the traveller’s £100,000 funeral on Thursday threw bottles, rocks and eggs when they descended on St Mary Cray in Orpington, Kent, to bury him.
Then after the funeral, a woman connected to Vincent’s family wrote on Facebook: “Richard [sic] a murdering scumbag that deserves all he get.”
Another post said: “Richard the murdering scum bag who [is] scared to go home.
“Poor murdering Richard shouldn’t have took [sic] the law in he [sic] own hands and he wouldn’t be scared right now would he if he had let the police deal with it Henry would be in prison and Richard would be living in he’s [sic] own home peacefully.
“Richard you dirty scummy murderer your [sic] not innocent your [sic] a giant with hands as big as shovels your [sic] posing Richard Osborn-Brooks and, right, some of the hate mail online following the funeral with guns in your hand you had great upper body strength. You knew what you was doing murderer you got your own karma to live in the same as us [sic].”
The post was shared on a Facebook page for the Orpington area and received more than 300 comments within hours of being posted yesterday.
Orpington, which has a large traveller encampment, was on lockdown after the funeral as more than 100 drunken mourners turned increasingly rowdy. Vincent’s family from Orpington threatened locals who criticised them for bringing eggs to his funeral.
Internet users who said that Mr Osborn-Brooks was simply defending his property were also threatened by Vincent’s supporters, with some branded “paedophiles”.
Mr Osborn-Brooks, 78, and his wife Maureen, 76, remain under police protection and have been unable to return home since the break-in.
