Terriers out to spoil party

- Jason Mellor

COLLIN QUANER says Huddersfield need to be double party poopers as they bid to pull off a Premier League escape.

David Wagner’s side travel to Manchester City tomorrow hoping to spring a huge shock and put a dampener on the champions’ trophy celebrations.

And with the fight for survival going down to the wire, Quaner insists the Terriers will not think twice about ensuring Arsene Wenger’s send-off falls flat on Arsenal’s finalday visit to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Huddersfield are three points clear of danger but face a nightmare run-in, with a trip to Chelsea in between their dates with City and the Gunners. And Quaner does not want to have to rely on other results to confound the critics by staying up.

“There will be a lot of distractions with City’s title presentation, but we won’t be starstruck,” said forward Quaner.

“They are deserved champions but we are not going there just to swap shirts with their players after the game.

“We know what we have to do in order to stay in this division. We realise what a tough final week we have.” Pep Guardiola wants his team to celebrate the trophy by setting new records for points, wins and goals.

“They are huge records,” said the City manager. “It’s going to be a special day.”

City midfielder Yaya Toure is understood to want to continue playing in the Premier League after Guardiola confirmed the 35-yearold will be leaving the club this summer.
