It changed me forever...

-

APPRENTICE star Karren Brady’s health scare gives hope to millions of football fans praying for Sir Alex’s recovery. She survived a brain aneurysm she says “changed my life forever”.

The businesswoman and West Ham United vice-chairman was told she had a 30 per cent chance of dying when doctors discovered the illness during a routine health check.

Brady, who has two children, said surviving made her realise that “life is short” and spurred her into joining Lord Sugar on the hit TV show, The Apprentice.

She said: “I would never have done it had I not gone through the experience. It made me realise that you should try new things.” At the time in 2006, doctors said it was a miracle she had survived giving birth to her two children. Within a week of being diagnosed, the businesswoman had been operated on.

Ms Brady wrote: “They called to say the radiologist had discovered a brain aneurysm that could rupture at any time. I needed urgent treatment.”

She said: “The main risks were rupture during the procedure, bleeding or a stroke during surgery, which could leave me disabled or dead. I still have a five per cent risk of stroke which doesn’t sound a lot, but when you’re faced with it, it’s bloody awful.”

Her husband Paul said that the illness had changed his wife.

He said: “She’s less likely to get so fraught about the unimportant things that used to wind her up.”
