Swans looked right past us

BOURNEMOUT­H captain Simon Francis was shocked by Swansea’s display as they suffered a tame defeat on the south coast.

The Swans did not look like a side fighting to prevent relegation and are now in the bottom three.

They have a huge ‘six-pointer’ at home to Southampto­n tomorrow and Francis felt they were prioritisi­ng that fixture.

He said: “It’s interestin­g how they played. I felt at times they bypassed this game, as if they think Southampto­n is their cup final. I didn’t feel they bombarded us and committed men forward. They’ll have to on Tuesday.”

Swansea know that home victories against the Saints and Stoke will keep them up.

But they have now lost three on the spin.

And it was up to the local lad to issue the rallying cry ahead of the club’s biggest fixture in years. “It’s massive,” said the 22-year-old. “I’ve only played the last two games but I love this club and hope we can do it.

“We have to perform, have to forget about Saturday. I can’t really think about the fact that I’m a local boy. I just need to think about it being another game. Everyone is thinking about Tuesday.
