Harry and Meghan with their page boys and bridesmaids at Windsor Castle
THE new Duke and Duchess of Sussex released official wedding photographs yesterday – and flagged up their modern approach to monarchy.
Harry and Meghan picked three photographs – one classic formal “group” pose and two others that are surely the most informal official wedding photographs published after a royal wedding.
In one, Prince George, the fouryear-old future King, steals the show in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, by giving a big, bold cheesy grin as he stands next to Meghan.
It is a far cry from his shyness immediately after the celebration when he hid behind his father’s legs.
In the same photo, his sister Princess Charlotte, three, also puts on a smile for the camera. She is perched on her mother’s knee in the other.
In the third image taken by Alexi Lubomirski, the newlyweds relax on the east terrace of Windsor Castle, with Harry grinning into camera and Meghan leaning into him in a pose that could be a Hollywood classic.
It is similar in style to their official engagement photographs, also taken by Lubomirski. A Kensington Palace spokesman said the couple were “delighted” with the photos “and are happy to be able to share them. They would also like to say thank you for all of the generous messages of support they have received”.
