Taking one’s biscuit as goody bags go on eBay

- By Richard Palmer

GUESTS who won an invite to the wedding in a public ballot are cashing in by selling their free gift bags on eBay for hundreds of pounds.

The canvas bags decorated with the Harry and Meghan’s initials were given to the 1,200 non-VIPs invited to spend the day outside St George’s Chapel on Saturday.

Bids have reached of more than £600 for the gifts with reports of one selling for at least £1,000. A search of the auction site, left, yesterday revealed that at least 20 of the bags are up for sale.

Along with a souvenir wedding order of service and a welcome letter from the couple, bags contain other freebies including a bottle of Windsor Castle water, a giant chocolate coin, a tin of shortbread and a voucher for 20 per cent off in the castle shop. The guests arrived at 9am to see 600 VIPs including the Queen, Prince Philip and Prince Charles as well as the Clooneys, the Beckhams, Elton John and Oprah Winfrey.

The golden ticket holders were able to get great views of the newlyweds as they kissed outside the chapel and paraded past in the royal Ascot Landau carriage.

And within hours the goody bags were listed on eBay.

One trader wrote: “Selling my daughter’s goody bag, presented as a gift to all guests attending the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan within the Windsor Castle grounds.”

Another post said: “I’m happy to send the gift bag internationally if you’re happy to cover the postage’.
