Snodgrass is fuelled by fear

-

ROBERT Snodgrass says the fear of losing is driving Aston Villa’s players.

Snodgrass has experienced the joy of the Wembley play-off final with Leeds and Hull and the 30-year-old knows all too well that Saturday’s Championship final with Fulham will be no place for faint hearts.

Snodgrass, on loan from West Ham, is one of several players whose futures hinge on the Wembley showdown. He helped take Hull to the big time two years ago and wants another taste of it.

Snodgrass said: “Everybody wants to be on the good end of it.

“Everyone has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to get the club there. It’s very rare you get a second chance to get to your final destination. We fell short in the automatic places and we know now there’s no room for error.

“That’s the beauty of the play-offs, it’s the fear of losing that drives you forwards. None of the lads want to lose.”

Fulham finished five points ahead of fourthplace Villa and only just missed out on automatic promotion. “It feels like I’ve had three seasons in one, with West Ham, then coming here, then getting to the playoffs,” said Snodgrass. “We know it’s going to be hard, but if you want results, you’ve got to beat the best.

“We have to beat Fulham, who have been one of the best teams in the division. Everybody who has watched Fulham would probably agree.”
