Harry’s tearful phone call with ex before wedding
PRINCE Harry shared a tearful phone call with ex- girlfriend Chelsy Davy days before his wedding, it was claimed yesterday.
US magazine Vanity Fair said Chelsy, 32, almost pulled out of attending the event after being overcome with emotion.
The jewellery designer was said to have been disappointed not to have been invited to the glitzy after- party and promised not to gatecrash it.
The magazine quoted an unnamed family friend as saying :“It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on. Chelsy was quite emotional about it all – she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding.
“In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try to gatecrash the party.”
Zimbabwean Chelsy had a seven- year on- off relationship with the Prince after meeting him while she was a pupil at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire.
After splitting with Harry eight years ago, the landowner’s daughter saw jeweller Charles Goode for a while. Rumours of a rekindled romance with the sixth- in- line to the throne never came to fruition and Harry had a string of girlfriends before meeting US actress Meghan Markle.
Before the wedding, Vanity Fair claimed Chelsy was excited about the ceremony and was shopping for a dress to wear.
However, her appearance – along with Cressida Bonas, Harry’s other signifi cant ex – sparked a social media debate about her mood.
Body language expert Judi James said: “When she arrived, everyone else was chatting and laughing but she sat in the pews just looking to one side, gazing refl ectively into space and biting her lips slightly.”
A spokesman for Prince Harry declined to comment.
